Thursday 6th August 2026, 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Cost: £40 pp, including light lunch at The Fishers Arms Community-Owned Pub
Meeting at the pub at 10.00 a.m., the day will comprise a morning river walk with art activities en route led by local artist and Fishers’ volunteer, Pauline Plenderleith, breaking for a light lunch at midday (pub drinks not included in workshop price) and then strolling along to Horncliffe Memorial Hall to develop work from the morning’s sketching, finishing at 4.00 p.m.
The planned walk is approximately 2km (1¼ miles) in length, mainly on grass or gravel track, with a mild descent to begin with and ascent near its end. Paths are usually fairly dry in summer, but can become muddy with any recent rain. Unfortunately, they are not suitable for wheelchairs.
Please, no dogs, due to the nature of activities.
Children under 16 to be accompanied by an adult.
The event is suitable for both beginners and more experienced artists, and some basic equipment will be provided. However, participants are asked, if possible, to bring their own sketchbooks and preferred art materials for river walk sketching exercises and afternoon work development. Suitable shoes for the riverside walk and appropriate clothing for weather conditions on the day will also be required.
Pauline is a retired art teacher and now a community pub volunteer. Having worked in schools with students of all ages for over 40 years, she has recently started to take her own work into the realms of abstraction, focusing on Northumberland nature and landscapes. She looks forward to sharing practices with you and perhaps doing some learning herself on the day too.
Please contact Pauline on 07485281466 or via plenderleithp@gmail.com with any enquiries, for payment details and to reserve your place for the workshop. Please also advise of any special dietary requirements.
Deadline for bookings: 31st July 2026.
